“As the family goes, so goes the nation and so goes the whole world in which we live.” -Bl. John Paul the Great
Having a true spirit of family is an important part of our Institute. Our vocation as women religious is complemented and enriched by our membership in the Religious Family of the Incarnate Word which includes a male branch with priests and brothers, and a third order of lay people who share in our same spirit of mission and evangelization of culture. Our desire for true family spirit also manifests itself in a dedication to promoting healthy and holy family life in a variety of apostolates.
So it is with great joy that we write to tell you about our Family Day 2013, held at our Juniorate House of Studies in Washington, DC. This annual event is our opportunity to thank all the families and friends that support us and have allowed us to be part of their lives.
The day was full of games, songs, and a pot-luck meal, even though we had a bit of rain! While the sun was shining, many sports were played in the back yard while the little ones and parents enjoyed time on the deck with refreshments. With everyone’s help we quickly moved the festivities inside during the storm.
We give thanks to God for the gift of family life: the visible reflection of the Divine love between the Persons of the Holy Trinity. We ask Mary, Mother of the Holy Family, for her protection of all the families in our apostolates. May these families grow in unity and holiness in order to be a witness to the love of God for the world.
